A selection of ferries operate from the Prince of Wales Pier and travel to the coastal village of Flushing and also the small town of St. Mawes, which lies directly opposite Falmouth. Regularly ferries also arrive from Ponsharden, arriving at the Customs House Quay.

A trip to Falmouth is much more enjoyable if you are able to drive around the area by car, and those arriving by other means of transport will be pleased to find that you are able to hire cars here. Within driving distance of Truro, Newquay and even Penzance, Falmouth enjoys a fairly central location and is well placed to explore much of Cornwall. Within the town itself, a number of car parks are dotted around, often being extremely close to the beaches.

The town stands at the very end of the popular branch train line, connecting the nearby city of Truro in just 20 minutes. From here, you join the main line and can ultimately travel to most UK cities and towns.

Bus transport proves one of the most economical ways to travel around the town of Falmouth, with local buses being run by First Devon and Cornwall, departing from the Moor. Hourly buses travel to a number of Cornish towns, including Helston, Marazion and also Penzance. The relatively new Falmouth Explorer bus service 400 connects Ponsharden, Swanpool, the Pendennis Headland and the Falmouth Moor, being operated by both Truronian and First.

National Express coach transport in Falmouth is extremely popular and offers a convenient way to arrive in the town. Reasonably priced coaches regularly travel to Penzance (two hours) and London (eight hours), amongst other locations, although both Newquay and St. Ives are surprisingly poorly served.
